Description:

MIM is the top attraction in Arizona, a one-of-a-kind immersive experience and industry leader using specialized technology to elevate the guest experience. In addition to its galleries, MIM has an acoustically superb theater, concert series, museum store, and award-winning cafe.

This position will assist with general maintenance, operations, and repair of the museum properties, as well as set up and breakdown of events.  Normal schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday from 12:00pm to 8:00pm position, with some varying hours dependent on the events schedule.

The maintenance skill we most need most is at least 2 years’ experience painting/drywall repair in a commercial environment (such as TI work), with attention to detail.  The ideal candidate will also have experience in common plumbing repairs (like Touchless washroom equipment PMs) and common electrical repairs (switches and lighting fixtures).

The ideal candidate would be observant for any miscellaneous repairs needed to keep up MIM brand, and work as a team to fulfill work requests as required (it helps to know computer applications like email and work scheduling aps).  Organization skills are required to maintain inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, supplies, and materials (and inform Facilities Manager of reorder needs). Flexibility to perform other tasks as needed (such as dock receiving or mailroom duties), and a sense of urgency to be responsive and follow-through, always keeping in mind that MIM’s culture promotes teamwork to deliver a great guest experience.

High school or GED, with classes in trades or facilities operations is a plus.  Essential requirements also include:

  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of museum staff and vendors.
  • Valid driver license (insurable).
  • Ability to lift up to 50-60 pounds.
  • Able to work from a ladder and reach overhead while adhering to applicable safety practices.
  • Ability to smell smoke and other chemicals.
  • Ability to think critically of steps needed to safely accomplish a task with quality.
  • Must be able to work some nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Must be able to do some outdoor work in heat or cold, as needed.
