Sex Offender Counselor Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

1. All counselors are expected to adhere to the ethical standards published by the Counseling Association.

2. Responsible for creating and maintaining client documentation.

3. Complete all necessary documentation as directed by the court and other funding entities. 4.

Testify in court hearings when involved with clients referred by DCS, DES, or the various probation departments as required.

5. Responsible for understanding and following agency policies and procedures regarding staff performance, leave, work standards, etc.

6. Attend staffing conferences as required.

7. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and participate in training meetings and workshops as requested by Clinical Director and as required by AZDHS.

8. Counselors will maintain appropriate clinical privileges and certifications as needed.

9. Protect and maintain the confidentiality of client records and information.

10. Respond to crisis situations, as necessary.

Requirements: Must be 21 years of age, must be able to pass a criminal background check, have a Class One fingerprint Clearance Card from DPS, CPR and First Aid certification Education/Training: Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social work, or a closely related field is necessary. Professional counselors are to be licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. Experienced with individual, family and group therapy preferred.

Experience/Background: Knowledge of casework, interpersonal relations and family dynamics. Must have experience in sexual abuse, trauma resolution and sexual victimization/perpetration issues. A minimum of three years’ experience or two years post graduate experience including individual, family and group counseling and or psychotherapy preferred.
